King Island Golf Expands! Luxurious Upgrade for Ocean Dunes

Golf in Australia continues to receive support from the government, and that is fantastic for those looking for a unique and beautiful place to travel and play. Ocean Dunes golf course, located on King Island, is about to get even more special with a major expansion project underway. This blog post covers recent news as reported by Golf Australia

Upgrading Facilities and Accommodation Options

Ocean Dunes Holdings Ltd, the new owners of the course, have recently unveiled ambitious plans to enhance the visitor experience. Plans include a $35.5 million expansion for the addition of 64 lux hotel rooms, and a much-needed on-prem restaurant & bar. The Tasmanian Government has shown its commitment to this exciting project by providing a $10 million loan. Premier Jeremy Rockliff expressed his enthusiasm for the development, stating, “This is a fantastic project for King Island and will solidify Tasmania’s reputation as a world-class golf destination.” It’s really great news, as King Island is such a fun place to visit and play. We are very excited to read this news!

Meeting Growing Demand

The expansion is driven by the increasing popularity of King Island as a golfing hotspot. The island, located between Tasmania and mainland Australia, has two great courses, Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes. Golf has attracted travelers from around the globe but the infrastructure on the island, including accommodations expected of our own clients, has struggled to keep up with demand. With all the necessary approvals in place, there are no obstructions to construction and we are hopeful that means eager golfers can look forward to experiencing the upgraded facilities by 2025.
